Napoli must surely be vying to break into the upper echelon of worst title defences in football history.

The defending champions have 36 points from 24 games and are languishing in 9th place with a spot in next season's Europa League, their best bet.

Injuries to key players, managerial changes, loss of form, and perhaps off-field distractions have marred their season and the likes of star striker Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be looking to move on in the summer.

Napoli were actually lucky to avoid defeat against Genoa.

Cyril Ngonge struck a 90th-minute equaliser to avert what would have been an embarrassing defeat, with Osimhen watching from the stands.
