Robert Lewandowski, who reportedly fell out with the Polish national team manager after he was stripped of the captaincy, has apparently told his Barcelona teammates he will move to Saudi Arabia next summer.

Lewandowski is entering the fourth and final year of his contract with Barcelona, who paid €45 million to acquire him from Bayern Munich in July 2022.

The captain refuses to contemplate retirement and plans to continue his career after his contract with Barcelona expires in 2026.

He scored 103 goals and provided 42 assists in 187 appearances for the German club across all competitions.

Lewandowski linked with Saudi Arabia

Sport Bild, citing the Al-Riyadiyah newspaper, reports that Lewandowski has agreed to play in Saudi Arabia starting in the 2026-2027 season, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and other football stars nearing retirement.

The source is a spokesperson for Gol International, Lewandowski's agency, as reported by GSP, "This will happen, and the Polish goalscorer will arrive in the Saudi Pro League," the Middle Eastern publication states.

Until now, the Polish striker has consistently denied any links to Saudi Arabian football, but the situation appears to have changed. "Al-Riyadiyah goes further and claims that Lewandowski has communicated his decision in the Barcelona dressing room," writes Sport Bild.

Surprisingly, according to the same source, his agent has not entered into any discussions regarding a contract extension with Barcelona beyond 2026. For the Arab newspaper, "everything points to a clear transfer to Saudi Arabia!"

Things didn't go well for Lewandowski in 2025. The Pole was injured at a crucial point in the season, impacting key objectives, notably the Champions League semi-final against Inter.

Shortly after, Lewandowski withdrew from international duty, citing physical and mental fatigue, causing a huge controversy with national team coach Michał Probierz.

Probierz then named Piotr Zielinski captain (in Lewandowski's absence), after which the Barcelona striker decided not to play for Poland as long as Probierz remained in charge. The Polish FA ultimately sided with the striker and dismissed the coach!
