Ruben Amorim: 4 disastrous records Man United manager has already set after only two matches this season
Manchester United’s 2025/26 season has only just kicked off, but already Ruben Amorim is under intense scrutiny after setting a string of unwanted records in just two games.
A loss to Arsenal and a frustrating draw at Fulham have left fans shaking their heads and critics digging into the stats, and the numbers paint a very grim picture.
Amorim’s disastrous win percentage
One of the most damning statistics attached to Amorim’s early tenure is his Premier League win percentage of just 24.1%, with seven wins in 29 matches.
For context, that puts him on the exact same level as Neil Warnock, a manager remembered more for relegation scraps than European nights at Old Trafford.
24.1% - Ruben Amorim now has a Premier League win percentage of 24.1% (7 wins in 29 games), the exact same percentage as Neil Warnock (won 27 of 112 games), who was twice relegated from the Premier League. Worry. pic.twitter.com/4HfNUTncRv

Warnock’s record included two relegations from the Premier League, and United fans will hardly be comforted by the fact that their supposed bright new appointment is being compared to a survival specialist.
For a club whose identity is built on winning, rubbing shoulders with Warnock in the stats column is about as worrying as it gets.
Fewer points than a relegated Leicester
As if that wasn’t enough, Amorim’s Manchester United have also amassed fewer Premier League points than almost every other team since the start of April.
In that period, they’ve managed just six points, fewer than all other ever-present clubs and even fewer than Leicester City, who are now playing in the Championship. Yes, a second-tier side has done better in that timeframe than Manchester United.

That kind of slump would be unacceptable for a mid-table team, but for one of the biggest clubs in world football, it borders on disastrous. Fans can accept transition periods, but when the numbers show you’re trailing relegated clubs, patience quickly evaporates.
Manchester United's first-half drought under Amorim
Another unwanted stat hanging over Amorim is United’s inability to score in the first half of games. Since the start of last season, they have failed to find the net before half-time in 29 matches.
To put that in perspective, in all of Europe’s top five leagues, only Genoa have been worse, with 30 such matches. United are meant to be a side that dominates games, takes control early, and puts opponents on the back foot.

Instead, Amorim’s team have developed a habit of trudging through opening halves without creating meaningful breakthroughs, constantly leaving themselves with too much to do after the break.
That pattern has already shown itself again this season, and unless it changes, it’s going to be a very long campaign.
Fastest to rack up 15 defeats in over a decade
Finally, there’s the record that really underlines how rocky Amorim’s start has been: he has now lost 15 of his first 28 Premier League games (W7 D6).
That makes him the fastest manager to reach that tally of defeats without managing a newly promoted side since Paul Hart with Portsmouth back in 2009, who did so in 27 games.

It’s the kind of record no manager wants to be associated with, let alone someone taking charge of Manchester United.
For a coach who was touted as a modern tactician with the ability to rebuild the club, this stat shows just how brutal life in the Premier League can be, especially when the wins aren’t coming.
Manchester United’s fanbase has grown used to turbulent starts and false dawns over the past decade, but the speed at which these records are piling up under Amorim is already alarming.
The season is young, but unless the Portuguese manager finds a quick turnaround, his name might soon be added to the long list of managers who struggled to carry the weight of the Old Trafford hot seat.
