Rwanda vs Nigeria: Osimhen leads 5 Super Eagles to camp in Kigali for World Cup qualifier
Nigerian football superstar Victor Osimhen has arrived in Kigali, marking the official opening of the Super Eagles camp ahead of their critical 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the arrival of Osimhen and other key players on Sunday night, greeted by the Ambassador of Nigeria to Rwanda.
This signals the start of an intense preparation phase for the highly anticipated match on March 21 at the Stade Amahoro.
The Super Eagles, under the guidance of new head coach Eric Chelle, are in a must-win situation in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers.
Osimhen opens Super Eagles camp for Rwanda
Nigeria currently sits fifth in the group with just three points from four matches, putting them at risk of missing the World Cup for the second consecutive time.
Osimhen, who is on a season-long loan from Napoli and has been linked with major Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, brings his world-class striking prowess to the camp.
His presence is a significant boost for the team, especially after missing earlier qualifiers due to injury.
Joining him on the opening day of camp are Tolu Arokodare, Kayode Bankole, Bruno Onyemaechi, Papa Daniel, and Amas Obasogie, as listed in the NFF’s update.
The bulk of the squad is expected to join on Monday and Tuesday, as they will have just three full days to prepare for the showdown against the Amavubi Rwanda, the group leaders, before facing Zimbabwe four days later in Uyo.
