Samu Omorodion: Super Eagles-eligible star exits Atletico Madrid just days after joining
LALIGA club Atletico Madrid have sent Nigerian forward Samuel Omorodion on a season-long loan just days after he was signed.
Omorodion will spend the rest of the season at newly promoted Alaves following confirmation from both clubs on Saturday.
Atletico took to their social media page to announce the deal, with a further statement on their website.
Omorodion at Atleti
Omorodion’s loan to Alaves comes just five days after he joined Atletico from another LALIGA side, Granada.
The capital club activated the release clause of the 19-year-old to seal a sensational transfer from the club.
Pulse Sports reported that the explosive forward put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will see him represent Atletico until the summer of 2028.
However, the club has now quickly sent the Nigerian out to Alaves where he will spend the rest of the season on loan.
“Atlético de Madrid and Alavés have reached an agreement for the loan of Samu Omorodion to the Basque team until the end of this campaign,” Atleti said in a statement. “The Melilla striker will play the rest of the course in the Vitorian set.”
Alaves welcome Samu
Omorodion has already arrived Alaves who have now unveiled the youngster as a new player at the club just before taking to the pitch on Saturday.
“Omorodion stands out for an imposing physique (1.93 cm), speed and a great nose for goal. At just 19 years old, the striker from Melilla with Nigerian parents already knows what it's like to debut and score this season in LALIGA EA SPORTS,” Alaves said in a statement.
The 19-year-old made his LALIGA debut against Atletico at the magnificent Wanda Metropolitano.
He opened his account for the season with a sensational strike against Diego Simeone’s men, now his parent club.
Samu’s goal turned out to be just a consolation as Atleti came from behind to thrash the visitors 3-1.
