The former world 100m champion joined the women-only event as a founding owner-advisor and was expected to compete in the women’s 100m.

Upon her signing with the track league, founder Alexis Ohanian noted that it was a huge honour having Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, and Tara Davis-Woodhall join the movement.

“Gabby, Sha’Carri, and Tara represent a new generation of athletes who have put this sport on their shoulders and deserve to be compensated for being the standard-bearers,” Ohanian said in a statement.

“We were focused on bringing them into the League as founding owners to ensure we’re building a League that our athletes will love.”

“Although I’m not running, I’m definitely showing up for our track fans! I’ll meet you at the Fan Zone Plaza for what will be an epic night of women dominating the track! See you there! @athlos,” Sha’Carri Richardson revealed.

The reigning Olympic 100m silver medallist has had a mixed 2024 season, marked by an injury setback earlier in the year and an altercation with her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, which resulted in her arrest.

Sha’Carri Richardson started her season with the women’s 100m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix, finishing fourth in the women’s 100m.

She proceeded to the Prefontaine Classic, where she finished a distant ninth, and later confirmed that she was still battling the same injury that saw her start her season late.
