She steal phone? Reactions as Nigerian beats up Ghanaian MMA fighter like a thief
Nigeria's Joy Obanla underlined her status as one of the continent's most fearsome MMA fighters with a blistering first-round victory to claim gold at the African Games.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the 65kg dynamo made light work of her Ghanaian opponent Abubakari Winnie in the final in Accra, forcing the referee to wave off the contest after a devastating display of striking.
Ghana fighter suffers against Nigerian
According to a post by Making of Champions on Twitter, Obanla wasted no time in putting her rival on the back foot, swarming forward behind a barrage of venomous punches and knees from the opening bell.
Her Ghanaian adversary had no answer for the Nigerian's relentless pressure and aggression, wilting under the onslaught.
With her opponent trapped on the ropes and eating a salvo of unanswered blows, the referee had seen enough - stepping in to halt proceedings and crown Obanla the new African Games champion.
On this evidence, Obanla looks primed to make a major impact on the global MMA scene, with promotions like the UFC and Bellator surely sitting up and taking notice.
