Shericka Jackson in major scare for Jamaica as she suffers setback at Gyulai Istvan Memorial

World 200m champion Shericka Jackson has left Team Jamaica sweating over her fitness after she pulled up during the 14th Gyulai Istvan Memorial World Continental Gold meet in Szekesfehervar in Hungary on Tuesday.
Jackson had started the 200m race well and was cruising to victory but appeared to suffer a muscle problem when she felt pain before she stopped just a few minutes to the finish line.
The Jamaican was able to walk off the track even when medics had ran over to try and help but it was a sight that her country would not want to see with just over two weeks to go before the Paris 2024 Olympics begin.
Julien Alfred equals her season's best in the 200m to win the Gyulai István Memorial title in 22.16.

Julien Alfred from St Lucia clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 22.16s (+0.6) to win the race ahead of Daryll Neita of Great Britain who ran 22.36s to finish second, while Lanae-Tava Thomas of Jamaica was third in 22.54.
Alfred’ victory was, however, overshadowed by the setback of Jackson who is her country’s biggest hope for gold in both 100m and 200mat the Olympics.
Jamaican fans will be hoping that she did not suffer an injury that would have an impact on her participation at the Olympics especially after defending champion Elaine Thompson-Herah pulled out of the Games with an injury.
