Coote is the same official who was dismissed after a video surfaced in July 2020, showing him insulting Liverpool Football Club and specifically, their former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Later, another recording "leaked" online, depicting Coote snorting a white powder through a rolled-up banknote. This incident occurred in a hotel room during the European Championship in Germany, where he was serving as one of the referees.

The video of him snorting was filmed on July 6, the day after the Euro 2024 quarter-final between Portugal and France – a match where Coote was one of the VAR officials.

According to reports from Sportal, it has emerged that he has been charged with filming indecent content involving a child.

The 43-year-old is set to appear before Nottingham Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Thursday) for his initial hearing.

The video in question was reportedly made on January 2, 2020, and falls under Category A of British law. This is the highest classification, typically reserved for cases of child rape or other severe sexual offenses committed by adults.

Separately, the referee, who has since come out as gay, was investigated by the FA regarding his potential involvement in illicit match betting.

The catalyst for these new issues for the official stemmed from messages he sent before and after a Leeds vs. West Bromwich Albion match in 2019.

These communications raised suspicions among regulatory bodies that some of his on-field decisions, such as issuing yellow cards, might have been linked to assisting third parties involved in betting.
