Tecău was in London last week, attending several events at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. Romania's Billie Jean King Cup captain was present at the women's final and the Wimbledon champions' dinner, among other events.

Horia Tecău wants to play mixed doubles with Simona Halep: "I'd love to have these experiences."

After returning to Romania, Tecău spoke about Wimbledon and revealed two ambitions he has for the legends' competition. The former world No. 2 doubles player wants to play again with Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer, and he'd also like to play mixed doubles with Simona Halep.

"I want to play in the legends' competition twice more. I want to play again with Jean-Julien Rojer and relive our partnership at this tournament. Later, I don't know exactly when, I want to play with Simona. There's a mixed doubles competition too. I'd love to have those experiences," Tecău told as.ro.

"I've already told Simona; I met her at the women's final. She knows about my wish, and we'll see in the coming years what happens. It's great to be competitive in these matches, even if it's more for fun and entertainment, it's not seriously competitive. Especially since it's at Wimbledon, such a major tournament, a place you enjoy returning to," added the tennis player, who retired in 2022.

Throughout his career, Tecău won 38 doubles titles, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 2. Twenty of those 38 titles came with Jean-Julien Rojer, including two Grand Slam titles (Wimbledon 2015; US Open 2017) and the ATP Finals title in 2015.

Halep also has a Wimbledon title to her name, won in 2019 after defeating Serena Williams 6-2, 6-2. The former world No. 1 had also won the French Open in 2018.
