Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg narrated a hilarious story about being harassed for wearing a Manchester United jersey in Liverpool.
The rapper and record producer is from the USA, a country that is not as football-crazed as most of Europe and Africa. Hence, the nuance of football fan culture was lost on him.
During a promotional tour in the United Kingdom, the ‘Drop it like it's hot’ crooner was gifted a Manchester United jacket. He narrated how this led him to transgress, as he donned the apparel in Liverpool, a city populated by Reds fans, who happen to be bitter rivals of Manchester United.
What Snoop Dogg said
The rapper was a guest on Capital Radio when he narrated the incident, "I know not to wear [footballing jerseys] in their enemy territory,” he said.
"Well, I didn't know that in the beginning. When I first started coming out here, I think I wore a Manchester United [jacket] and I was in Liverpool and they was like, 'what the f*ck are you doing? Take that jacket off!'"
He was then handed a Burnley jersey by the show host, who ensured to accompany it with a warning “Don't wear it in Blackburn,” as they, like Liverpool, are to Manchester United, are the Clarets’ rivals.

Snoop, playfully exasperated, replied, "Damn. See, I hate when y'all do that, giving me jerseys! You're all worse than gang members!”
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool will renew their on-pitch rivalry on August 4th. The match is a fixture on both teams' USA tours and will be played in the Williams Brice stadium in South Carolina.
