Sunderland vs Arsenal: Brobbey cancels out Trossard stunner as Gunners' defence crumbles

Arsenal and Sunderland played out a thrilling 2-2 draw as Mikel Arteta's men conceded two goals for the first time this season.

The Gunners were facing a Sunderland team who were playing above expectations, and were yet to lose at home this season, and a feisty first-half was made even more enthralling when Daniel Ballard thundered a beautiful Volley past David Raya to break the deadlock.

It was the first goal Arsenal had conceded in 8 games, and a reminder of the task at hand.

Arsenal upped the pressure early in the second half with more penetrative passes, as Martín Zubimendi turned and shot at Roefs, before Bukayo Saka pulled an effort wide.

The Englishman made no mistake from his next attempt though, receiving a pass from Mikel Merino and equalising with his weaker right foot. Eberechi Eze then tested Roefs shortly after, while Zubimendi also hit the crossbar with a delicate effort after Roefs pushed Saka’s cross out.

The relentless pressure from the visitors made a second goal almost inevitable, and Leandro Trossard provided it with a thunder strike into the top corner from the edge of the box. 

However, there was to be another twist to the tale as Brobbey salvaged a point for Sunderland with a late equaliser, beating the onrushing David Raya to the ball with an acrobatic finish.
