Jose Peseiro’s men made a statement against Sao Tome and we take a look at three things that motivated the team.
1. They are ranked lower than Super Eagles
Nigeria are ranked higher than their opponent Sao Tome both in FIFA ranking and CAF ranking. Sao Tome are ranked 186 on the FIFA ranking of the world and 50 on the CAF ranking.
The Super Eagles are a more superior team with a lot of experience than the True Parrots Team which gives them an edge over them.
Jose Peseiro’s men defeated Sao Tome in both legs with the first leg ending 10-0 and the second leg ending 6-0.
2. Super Eagles scored 10 last time out
The Super Eagles showed their superiority against Sao Tome in the first leg, defeating them 10-0 at their home ground.
Sao Tome are still a team trying to find their ground in African football and are yet to hit the ground running as a team.
The second leg of this encounter also ended in a goal rampage with the Super Eagles defeating them 6-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
3. Sharp/deadly Super Eagles strikers
One advantage the Super Eagles have over the Sao Tome team is the calibre of strikers they possess in their team.
Nigeria has a world-class striker Victor Osimhen in their ranks including other top strikers playing in top teams across Europe.
Super Eagles forwards were very dangerous and clinical against the True Parrots Team with every attack almost leading to goal.
