Super Eagles don't deserve FIFA World Cup! – Football expert drops brutal verdict on Eric Chelle's team
A Nigerian football expert has delivered a harsh verdict, declaring that Nigeria’s Super Eagles do not deserve to qualify for the FIFA World Cup due to their poor performances in the qualifiers.
Oluwajoba Ogunwale, managing editor of Pulse Sports Nigeria, voiced his frustration ahead of Nigeria’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda's Amavubi in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The Super Eagles face a decisive clash against Rwanda on Saturday, with all to play for, as Eric Chelle, who has called for full focus, looks to keep the hope of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive.
Nigeria currently sits fourth in Group C with seven points from six games, while Rwanda holds third place with eight points.
South Africa leads the group with 16 points after thrashing Lesotho in Free State, followed by Benin Republic with 11 points after their recent victory over Zimbabwe, who remain at the bottom with four points.
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ogunwale stated bluntly: “You know what, we actually do not deserve to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.”

When asked to explain, he pointed to the team's poor performances and criticised the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for failing to protest Lesotho and Zimbabwe being forced to play their home matches in South Africa, a factor he implies was unfair to Nigeria’s campaign.
“Aside from the team's poor performance, ask the NFF why they did not protest the decision to play Lesotho and Zimbabwe's home games in South Africa,” he added.
Ogunwale’s comments show growing frustration among Nigerians as the Super Eagles face a critical showdown with Rwanda in their quest to keep World Cup hopes alive.
