Super Eagles hero against Ghana sends message to ex-NPFL coach Finidi George with goal number 22
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers must be wondering if ex-NPFL boss Finidi George is watching after he continued his impressive form, netting the decisive equalizer as Rangers secured a 5-2 victory over Dundee FC.
The 29-year-old, who scored the first goal of the Finidi era during Nigeria's recent friendly win against Ghana, has now found the back of the net 22 times across all competitions this season, 16 of which have come in the league.
Eagles hero gets Finidi attention again
Dessers' goal helped the Gers bounce back from the heartbreak of the Old Firm Derby, where his consolation strike was not enough to prevent a defeat against Celtic.
This time, the former Feyenoord man's strike proved crucial, as it helped Rangers overturn a 2-1 half-time deficit and run out comfortable winners.
The goal will no doubt have caught the attention of Super Eagles boss Finidi George, who has now been appointed as the permanent coach of the national team.
Dessers, who scored the first goal of the Finidi era back in March, will be hoping his impressive club form can earn him a recall to the international setup as Nigeria look to revive their 2026 FIFA World Cup dream next month.
With 22 goals to his name already this season, the striker is firmly establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in European football.
If he maintains this level of performance, a return to the Super Eagles squad seems all but inevitable under Finidi.
