Super Eagles: Iwobi picks Ighalo over Kanu as Fulham stars select Nigerian Premier League greats
In a battle between Iwobi and Bassey, Kanu is disrespected in the selection of Nigerian Premier League greats.
Super Eagles of Nigeria stars Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi are back on the trends.
The two stars for Premier League giants Fulham are part of the 25 Super Eagles for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Iwobi picks Ighalo over Kanu
While both players are set for the AFCON they gave a Nigerian all-time Premier League Draft with Skysports.
In the interview, Iwobi and Bassey picked up their all-time Nigerian greats to play in the Premier League.
The surprise came when Iwobi selected Odion Ighalo with Nwankwo Kanu still on the draft.
Bassey started with, "Uncle Jay Jay. You know, I think got a bit of skill there. You know what I mean?
"I've got a bit of magic in my team already. Gone on.
Then Iwobi selected Ighalo and explained saying, "Yo, what you done in the last afcon that I went to?
"Not the pre previous one, the one before. Damn no more.
Bassey then selected Kanu and said, "Yeah, this is feet a bit. You want the ball to feet?
Iwobi responded, "Just bare strikers where you're not trying to have defends Bere Dribblers."
Iwobi selected Joseph Yobo and Bassey responded with Wilfred Ndidi.
Iwobi then selected Mikel John Obi saying, "Yo, when he was at, when I was at Chelsea joke."
Bassey picked up Victor Moses and Iwobi responded with Obafemi Martins.
Bassey picked Yakubu Aiyegbeni whil Iwobi selected himself which led to the defender also inserting himself.
Defending his lineup Bassey said, "Feet are mix yo, but like five a side when it's tight and compact exactly tight and compact.
"You can't get a ball off on so he can.
"When he does this, you feel it, you know, you did it.
"I mean, wolf lockdown, he could do a bit of both.
Iwobi added, "We gonna have to test them and bring everyone back."
Super Eagles at AFCON
Iwobi and Bassey are now expected to feature on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea in their initial AFCON game.
They then take on Ivory Coast on January 18 and Guinea Bissau on January 22 to wrap up the group stage.
