The Super Eagles arrived in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a narrow 1-0 win over their counterparts, the Wild Dogs, in an AFCON 2023 qualifier in Bissau on Monday.

Moses Simon scored the decisive goal through a well-struck first-half penalty won by the impressive right-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The goal was Moses' ninth international goal for Nigeria but his first in four matches at the ongoing AFCON 2023 qualifiers.

Super Eagles land in Abuja

Following a successful outing in Bissau, the Nigeria Super Eagles landed in the nation's capital city, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

It was sweet revenge for the Nigeria Super Eagles in Bissau following a slim victory against the Wild Dogs.

Nigerian Eagles departed for Bissau in search of revenge after Guinea-Bissau came, saw and conquered them at the MKO Abiola international stadium on Friday.

The game in Bissau saw the visitors, Super Eagles, dominate from start to finish but needed a first-half penalty to overcome the stubborn Wild Dogs.

Fenerbahce's fullback, Osayi-Samuel, played a key role as his brilliant run led to the penalty which was expertly scored by Ligue 1-based Moses to give Nigeria the much-needed win.

With the win, Nigeria returns to the top of Group A with nine points, two more than second-placed Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles are now three points away from booking a ticket to the 2024 AFCON slated for Cote d'Ivoire.
