Super Eagles striker Osimhen to return to Nigeria amidst ‘personal issues’
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to Nigeria with the club’s permission as revealed by a high-ranking partenopei official.
Osimhen set to return to Nigeria
Osimhen, who is currently recuperating from a muscular injury suffered on international duty with the Super Eagles, has missed Napoli’s last four matches and is due to miss at least one more week of action according to manager Rudi Garcia.
The Nigerian striker will now reportedly use the layoff period to return to Nigeria to sort out some personal issues back home.
Napoli director Mauro Meluso: told journalists: “Victor Osimhen spoke to our secretary as he decided to travel to Nigeria, he has our permission”.
Osimhen returning to sort personal issues
The Napoli chief further explained the reason for Osimhen’s travel plans, saying, “He’ll return once he resolves some personal issues, he’s also injured so he’s still recovering. I think he’ll be back as soon as possible.”
Napoli have coped well with Osimhen’s recent absence through injury, winning four out of five matches that the Nigerian striker has missed.
Italian forward Giacomo Raspadori has taken the bulk of scoring responsibilities, netting three times in the last three games in Osimhen’s absence.
It is unknown what personal issues Osimhen is travelling to sort out, but it might have something to do with accusations levelled against the Napoli man by a social media user who believes the Nigeria international abducted his wife using state agents.
