Super Spectator: Unhappy Sadiq stuck on the bench at Sociedad amid fallout with Finidi
Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq continued his bench role at Real Sociedad after failing to see any playing time in their 1-0 win against Deportivo Alaves.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that this comes just a few days after Sadiq caused a commotion in the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles when he was benched by interim manager Finidi George during the recent international break.
Sadiq stays on the Bench
In the match against Alaves, the former Roma man was an unused substitute, while his compatriot, Samuel Omorodion, played for 75 minutes for the opposing team.
This latest development adds to Sadiq's frustration, as he has struggled to cement a starting spot in the Real Sociedad lineup this season.
The 27-year-old has started just 12 matches this season and has scored only three goals, with his last goal coming against Granada on March 9. That goal was also his first for club and country in 20 matches.
Sadiq's recent benching by Finidi during the international break caused a stir, as the player reportedly expressed his displeasure at not being given playing time.

The incident has now carried over to his club performance, where he continues to be relegated to the bench.
As Sadiq navigates this challenging period, both his club and national team will be hoping he can regain his form and secure a more prominent role in the starting lineups.
