Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly turned down the chance to coach Manchester United, as he wants to take a break from football management.
The 50-year-old recently left the role at Bayern Munich following a disappointing campaign, after he led the Bavarians to their first trophyless season since 2011/2012.
The decision to sack him came during the season; however, he was allowed to finish the campaign. It was reported that Bayern Munich reneged on their decision and tried to keep him, but Tuchel turned them down.
Manchester United meet with Tuchel
As Pulse Sports relayed, the Sun reported that Tuchel and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have met in the past few weeks; the most recent one was held last week in Monaco.
Tuchel is one candidate linked to the position, and discussions of taking up the managerial position have been discussed.
Manchester United have yet to announce the departure of Ten Hag and are still conducting a review of the season before making any public announcements.
Tuchel rejects Manchester United
According to the BBC's Simon Stone, the German manager has taken himself out of contention to become the next Manchester United boss.
Per the report, he indeed met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe in France, when he communicated to him that he had no interest in returning to coaching so soon, as he desired a sabbatical.
