Timothy Ouma With Commanding Display as Lech Poznan Thrash Austrian Giants in Europa Conference League Opener
Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma had a dream Europa Conference debut as he played 90 minutes in his side’s big win against Austrian giants Rapid Vienna on Thursday.
The Polish giants had a great day at the office as they thrashed the Austrian club 4-1 and they completed the rout early as they were 3-0 up by halftime.
Ouma got a rare start, slotting into a two-man central midfield partnership alongside Polish midfielder Filip Jagiello, and he enjoyed a great game.

The Kenyan international was key to setting the tempo of the game although he was given more license to make forward runs by his coach Niels Frederiksen.
How Did Lech Poznan Secure the Big Win?
Lech Pozana took the lead after 12 minutes through a well taken goal by Luis Palma who headed past the Rapid Vienna goalkeeper, after connecting well with a great ball in the box.
Palma was central to the second goal, scored by captain Mikael Ishak in the 21st minute. Palmer fired in a ferocious shot which the Rapid Vienna goalkeeper punched into the path of Ishak, who got an easy tap in.
Lech Poznan had an opportunity to extend their lead via the penalty spot when Ivorian defender Ange Ahoussou was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box after a lengthy VAR check. However, Ishak took a tame shot and saw the goalkeeper dive low to save it.
However, the third goal arrived on the stroke of halftime and in some style. A neat exchange of passes in and around the box saw Nigerian forward Taofeek Ismaheel finish with aplomb as the home side looked untouchable.
Polish Champions Celebrate Massive Victory
Lech Poznan reduced the intensity in the second half and saw their approach punished when Rapid Vienna pulled one back in the 64th minute after Andrija Radulovic got in between the two central defenders to score.
However, the home side restored their three-goal cushion with the fourth goal, substitute Leo Bengtsson scoring with his first touch of the ball, following a swift counterattacking move.
It was a dream start for Lech Poznan and Ouma, who managed 90 minutes for the fourth time this term, having joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Czech giants Slavia Prague.
