Trabzonspor set to sign Super Eagles star after agreeing ₦12 billion deal with EPL side
Paul Onuachu's performance last season during his loan spell at Trabzonspor has made the club consider signing him permanently.
The 29-year-old, who played for Southampton in the EFL Championships, was on a season-long loan to Trabzonspor where he spent 2023–2024 and scored 17 goals in 24 games.
The Super Eagles striker is set to leave Southampton and sign for Trabzonspor after both clubs agreed on a principled deal for the striker.
Onuachu set for Turkey
The former Genk striker was being asked to stay at Senol Güneş Papara Park by Trabzonspor's president Ertuğrul Doğan and coach Abdullah Avcı, but the Saints were demanding nine million euros for his services.
According to the Turkish outlet, Yomra Sonhaber Gazette, Onuachu's move to Trabzonspor is expected to happen soon as Martin Russell's management has lowered their asking price to just €7 million.
Onuachu has caught the eye of the club following a superb performance last season including scoring a Puskas-worthy goal against Konyaspor.
Earlier this year, Onuachu competed for the Super Eagles, who won a silver medal in the AFCON 2023 competition held in Ivory Coast.
Trabzonspor are still actively searching the transfer market for players to bolster their offensive line.
Their coach, Abdullah Avcı, is eager to compete head-to-head with Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe SK, thus he wants to get off to a fast start.
