Two Ugandans apply for Cranes job
As the search for the next Uganda Cranes head coach intensifies, local football custodians FUFA have confirmed 245 applicants for the hot seat
The seat is vacant after FUFA parted ways with head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic over two weeks after he had held the role for the past two years.
The Federation has confirmed that only two Ugandan coaches have expressed interest in taking on the job, with the other 243 being non-natives.
However, FUFA did not disclose the candidates (Ugandan and non-Ugandan).
The developments come just in time as football enthusiasts demanded that a Ugandan native be appointed.
FUFA has also confirmed that only two Ugandans have applied for the Assistant Coach job out of 34 applicants.
The eventual appointee will replace former deputy head coach Moses Basena.
For the Goalkeeping Coach role, only one Ugandan has shown interest out of seven candidates. Fred Kajoba has held the post for the past years.
Meanwhile, just five Ugandans out of 24 candidates have expressed interest in the Strength and Conditioning Coach job.
It's uncertain when the federation will announce the next holders of the vacant positions, as Uganda has a World Cup qualification campaign to deal with.
