Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have left the country for South America in preparation for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The 12-team tournament is scheduled to hold in Argentina from Saturday, May 20 to Sunday, June 11, after hosting rights were stripped from Indonesia due to political differences.

21 players in Nigeria's travelling squad

Members of coach Ladan Bosso's squad saw the addition of foreign professionals to some of those who won Nigeria's bronze at the U-20 AFCON.

The travelling party includes Chijioke Aniagboso, Nathaniel Nwosu, and Saheed Jimoh - all goalkeepers.

Defenders Daniel Bameyi, Benjamin Fredrick, Solomon Agbalaka, Augustine Njoku, Abel Ogwuche, Israel Domingo.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has urged that the Flying Eagles do better than they did at the U-20 AFCON, and win the U-20 World Cup.

Nigeria are drawn in Group D of the 2023 competition alongside five-time champions Brazil, 2017 bronze-medalists Italy, and debutants Dominican Republic, and would start their group campaign against the Dominican Republic on May 21.
