Umar Sadiq Mesbah was born on February 2 1997. Sadiq, who stands at 6ft 3 meters currently plays for Spanish top flight club Real Sociedad.

Sadiq began his senior career at Italian side Spezia where he failed to become a first team regular, but caught the eye with some performances in the league cup. 

In 2015, he made a one-year loan. Unlike at Spezia, Sadiq was an instant hit, scoring only minutes after making his second appearance for the club in a 2-0 win over Genoa.

Roma made the loan permanent in August 2016, but Umar struggled to nail down a first team spot with other stars like Mohamed Salah and Juan Iturbe preferred ahead of him. 

Sadiq went on a series of loans across Europe to teams like Bologna, Torino, NAC Breda, Rangers, Perugia and Serbian giants Partizan.

While at Partizan Umar delivered 18 goals in 34 appearances and that was enough to convince Spanish side Almeria to fork out £7.6 million to sign the Super Eagles striker. 

Umar joined his current club Real Sociedad on a five year contract in 2022 and currently earns a £50,000 week.

Sadiq is currently out for the season after suffering an ACL injury earlier in the season. The Super Eagles star is on his way to recovery, though. However, he is unlikely to return this season.
