UPL clubs breathe a temporal sigh of relief after Kakyeka Stadium fails licencing requirements

Uganda Premier League clubs visiting the Kakyeka Stadium will breathe a massive sigh of relief after Mbarara City FC's grounds failed the licensing requirements for the second round.

Several clubs have cried foul over the appalling conditions of the stadium, especially the playing surface.

Regardless of the weather conditions, Kakyeka has been a nightmare to visiting players and has been virtually unplayable.

"Kakyeka Stadium hosting rights have been withdrawn by the FUFA Club Licencing Committee," a statement from FUFA followed after the release of the second round fixture.

Kakyeka Stadium is a make of an anthill-like pitch and often turns dodgy and garden-like soggy when it rains.

However, unless it gets revamped in the next few days before January 29 (the deadline), Mbarara City will have to seek solace somewhere else.

Mbarara City are set to host Express FC in their first match of the second round on February 2.

The Ankole Lions ended the first half of the season 11th on the 16-team log with 17 points in 15 matches.
