The 24-year-old has now offered a response to the public criticism directed at him by Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen.

Boniface has been at the center of scrutiny since joining Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, failing to score in any of his opening seven games.

His struggles peaked during the weekend's 1-1 draw against Mainz, after which Coach Steffen publicly slammed the forward.

Steffen stated: “He tried to hold onto the ball up front. Today I thought to myself: Come on, he can do even better.”

In response to the challenge, the former Union Saint-Gilloise forward took to his Instagram story to share a brief but pointed message. Boniface posted a photo of himself with the caption, “Step by step.”

The brief message hints at a measured determination to prove himself and rise to Steffen’s challenge, hoping to recapture the form that made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
