Victor Wanyama Explains 3 Things that Will Carry Harambee Stars to CHAN 2024 Glory

Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama is backing Kenya to go all the way and win the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024).

Wanyama is among those who has been left delighted by Kenya’s run to the quarter-final of the tournament against all odds when few gave them a chance of advancing past a group that had Morocco, DR Congo, Angola and Zambia.

Harambee Stars finished top of Group A with 10 points, staying unbeaten, to set up a quarter-final meeting with Madagascar at Kasarani Stadium on Friday.

After watching them closely, Wanyama has identified three things that he thinks will work in Kenya’s favour and potentially take them all the way to the final and possibly win the tournament.

“I believe coach Benni [McCarthy] has done a really good job with the team so far and the results speak for themselves,” Wanyama told Telecomasia.net, identifying the tactical acumen of the South African coach as the first thing that is helping Kenya.

“I am really happy for them especially noting that most of them are young players who are at this stage for the first time. I have confidence that they can keep grinding results,” he added on Kenya’s ability to get results from difficult circumstances.

The other thing Wanyama feels has been helping Kenya is the impact of the 12th man given the huge attendance at Kasarani in their four matches so far.

“We are playing at home and we need to put our best foot forward and the home crowd is also doing well to push the team. I know they will have a good game and I will be there to cheer them on for a win,” added the midfielder.

McCarthy’s men are now looking forward to a win against Madagascar which will see them make it to the semi-final and there is confidence in the team that they can make it that far after passing the tough tests in Group A.
