Due to a blood clot in his right shoulder, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama will be out for the rest of the season, the team said Thursday.

The Spurs released a statement saying, "Wembanyama's condition was discovered when he returned to San Antonio after the All-Star Game in San Francisco."

Wembanyama, a 21-year-old center, is already regarded one of the league's top big men.

He was averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.6 blocks per game for San Antonio this season, with a 23-29 record ranked 12th in the Western Conference.

Wembanyama, the first overall choice in the 2023 NBA draft, entered the league as perhaps the best basketball talent since LeBron James in 2003.
