Adams scores brilliant brace in Montpellier win

The likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface have hugged headlines in recent weeks, but with the 2023 AFCON fast approaching, Adams is desperate to enter the reckoning for a national team place as well.

After a stunning start to life in Ligue 1 with three goals in his opening two games, Adams was back amongst the goals as Montpellier eased past Lorient 3-0 on Sunday evening.

The Super Eagles hopeful scored twice in the convincing win, netting the first and last goals for the visitors.

Adams impressive for Montpellier

Adams opened the scoring for Montpellier after 30 minutes, with an easy finish on the break but saved the best for last with a magnificent dribble and shot to make it 3-0 to the visitors and ensure all three points went to La Paillade.

The 23-year-old forward has now scored a total of five goals in seven games for Montpellier since signing this summer from Lillestrom, where he scored 15 goals in 15 Eliteserien appearances in the 2023 season.

The Benue-born marksman has shown promising signs of replacing Montpellier’s top scorer from last season, Elyhe Wahi who scored 19 Ligue 1 goals in the 2022/23 campaign before departing for Lens.

If Adams continues banging in the goals, he could become a club icon in no time, and could even be on the plane to Ivory Coast for the 2023 AFCON.
