Watambala receives late summon to Uganda Cranes squad for Ghana, Comoros matches

Vipers SC midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala has received a belated call to the Uganda Cranes squad ahead of their international friendly encounters with Ghana and Comoros.

The Cranes will battle the Ghana and Comoros on March 23 and 26, respectively, in Marrakech, Morocco.

Watambala has replaced his former Vipers teammate Bobosi Byaruhanga, who plays for Austin II in the MLS Next Pro in the United States.

"Vipers SC midfielder Abdu Karim Watambala has been summoned to join the Uganda Cranes squad that will play two international friendly matches against Comoros," a FUFA statement disclosed.

"Watambala replaces injured Bobosi Byaruhanga who has been ruled out of these two games."

Watambala has been one of Vipers' best players this season, managing two goals and as many assists in 17 league goals.

He becomes the third Vipers player on the squad after goalkeeper Jack Komakech and winger Milton Karisa.
