'We are going all out' — Alexander-Arnold bangs drum ahead of Real Madrid clash

Real Madrid trounced Liverpool 5-2 in the first-leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash; however, Trent Alexander-Arnold believes his side still has a chance and says they will go all out to win qualification at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Liverpool right-back was in action during the first leg of the encounter at Anfield, where they were soundly beaten, but suggests his team are not fazed by the daunting task ahead of them. 

According to Trent, who was quoted on Liverpool's website, his side intended to play with all of their might against Real Madrid because it was the last match before the break and would allow them plenty of time to rest up after all of the energy they intended to burn.

He admits the difficulty of the task ahead, saying his team would need something special to qualify; however, he said they are fully and solely focused on the game, and they are ready to give it all they've got.  

“I think there’s only one more game before the internationals, and it’s a huge one for us,” Trent said per the club's website.

I”t’s one that we need to go and do something special, so all our focus is solely on that Real Madrid game now, and it means that we can put everything into that game knowing that we’ve got days afterwards to recover.

“So, it’s about throwing the kitchen sink at it and going all out, and I think that’s what we’re going to do—it’s important to do that.”

Liverpool started like a house on fire in the first leg, going ahead in the 4th minute of the game after a Darwin Nunez strike and doubling it in the 14th minute, pouncing on a Thibaut Courtois error.  

However, it all came crashing down soon when a Vinicius double restored parity for the visitors going into halftime.  

Real Madrid quickly fired ahead upon returning from the half-time break, thanks to a thumping header by Militao. A brace by Karim Benzema later in the game completed the embarrassing defeat for Liverpool in front of their home fans. 

Since then, Liverpool have had a run of three games where they were unbeaten and unbreached, including a 7-0 win over Manchester United. However,  they suffered another setback in the season yesterday when they lost 1-0 to Bournemouth.
