'We don't have any doubt' — Maresca says they don't need Osimhen, Delap, Sesko
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca defended Nicolas Jackson in his latest press conference, stating that they do not need to sign offensive players, as he trusts the Senegal international.
Jackson had a fast start to the season, but he is currently in a rough patch, with zero goals in his last five league games. His poor form has attracted criticism with many, including Mikel Obi, reiterating previously held sentiments that the former Villarreal man was an inadequate first-choice striker.
What Maresca said
Jackson's detractors have called for the club to bring in a replacement that guarantees goals. The Blues are also linked with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, as well as Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap who ChelseaNews reported as new targets.
Maresca does not share these sentiments, however, as he backs Jackson to turn his form around, stating they do not need to sign a striker.
Asked if Chelsea will sign a striker this January transfer window, he said, "No, because I think by being a little bit more lucky, we can convert and can score more goals.”
“It’s not about [signing] a ‘killer’. At this moment, the one that’s probably missing the goal is Nico. But the way he is working is fantastic, and we don’t have any doubt that Nico is soon going to start scoring goals."
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been pushed out of the top four ahead of their clash against Wolves tomorrow. With Cole Palmer rumoured to be unfit for the clash, Blues fans will look to Jackson to return them to the Champions League places.
