‘When your Mum meets Leo’ - Beckham shares his mother's reaction after meeting Messi

The meeting comes as speculation surrounds Messi's future at the club, with contract renewal still in discussion. 

The 38-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the year, but reports suggest he is close to agreeing to an extension with the club.

If Messi does extend his stay, he will be part of the club's move to the new $1 billion Miami Freedom Park stadium, which is scheduled to open for the 2026 season.

Messi’s meeting with Beckham’s mother took place at the club's training ground, where the Argentine forward plays for the MLS club co-owned by Beckham.

The former England captain, 50, shared two photos of the meeting with his 88.1 million Instagram followers. 

The pictures show a delighted Sandra, 76, shaking hands and posing with the 2022 World Cup champion. 

Beckham captioned the post, which he shared on his page, "When your Mum meets Leo for the first time."

The post quickly drew affectionate responses from the Beckham family. His wife, Victoria, commented with heart emojis, while their son Romeo added crying face emojis. 

Messi has been a key player for Inter Miami since joining the club in 2023. This season, he has scored 29 goals and provided 17 assists.
