How it happened

Getafe started brightly and shocked the fans at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu early on after a strike from their former striker Borja Mayoral in the 11th minute of the game.

The hosts thought they had a chance to equalise when referee Mario Melero Lopez pointed to the spot after Bellingham was seemingly fouled in the box. However, VAR intervened, and upon review, the on-field decision was rescinded.

Despite their best efforts, Real Madrid failed to find an equaliser in the first-half; however, they came out after the break charging, scoring only two minutes into resumption thanks to a Joselu strike

The match looked headed for a draw before the since-impeccable David Soria spilled Vazquez's shot from outside the box. Bellingham pounced on the rebound and rolled the ball home for Los Merengues.
