Wikki Tourists add new fire to attack, complete transfer of Christian Ekong from Enyimba
As part of the team's preparations ahead of the return of the 2023 season, Wikki Tourists have completed the signing of Christian Ekong from Enyimba.
The winger joins the Bauchi side who have suffered a torrid time during the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Wikki Tourists in Group B, are currently in relegation place: 9th-place of 10, following a terrible start that have seen them win only 22% of their matches this season.
Ekong leaves Aba for Bauchi
On Tuesday, news of Ekong's switch circulated on social media, after the 22-year-old struggled for playing time while with the record Nigerian champions.
Since the start of the 2023 season, the winger has failed to play in a single match for Enyimba. Last season, he featured in only the last 10 matches for the People's Elephants.
Enyimba currently sits in second place in Group A of the NPFL with 16 points, scoring 12 in nine matches.
Ekong signing, advantage for Wikki Tourists
Contrary to his time at Enyimba, Ekong will fancy his chances in a Wikki Tourists side that have struggled in front of the goal this season.
In nine matches, the Bauchi side have converted only six of their attempts, conceding 11 goals in the process.
The 22-year-old primarily plays as a winger but can also play as a centre-forward, and a supporting striker. Ekong has also played for NPFL Dakkada and Akwa United.
