You can sack me, but I will NOT change — Amorim sends clear message to INEOS
Ruben Amorim has refused to compromise on his football philosophy, despite mounting pressure following the club's disappointing 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City.
The loss only deepened United's crisis, as the team has managed to secure just four points from their first four matches of the 2025/26 season.
Amorim has now won just 8 of his 31 league games since taking over as United boss last October, and there are calls from fans, and pundits for the manager to change his 3-4-3 system.
Amorim refuses to change system after derby defeat
After the defeat to City, the Portuguese tactician insisted that his game model is not the problem and has delivered a firm message to the club's ownership group, INEOS.
“I will do everything I can for Man United. This is my message to the fans. I’m suffering more than they. I won’t change my philosophy.

"If INEOS want it changed, then they’ll have to change the manager.
“I won’t change. The day I want to change my philosophy, that’s the day I’ll do it — otherwise, you’ll have to change the manager."I don’t believe the system is the problem, I’ll keep playing my own way.”
United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford next weekend, and another defeat could put Amorim in serious trouble, with some reports suggesting the former Sporting boss is already on thin ice.
