Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has a glut of legendary Uruguayan strikers to pick from as mentors, including Barcelona legend Luis Suarez, who recently tagged him as one of the best strikers in the world.

Outside of public glare, however, Suarez can be less glowing in his remark, dishing harsh truths to his younger countryman.

Darwin Nunez shared one such conversation with the Inter Miami forward, in which the 37-year-old called him out for doing something idiotic.

What Suarez said

Darwin Nunez has had an improvement in performance this season, a sharp contrast from his underwhelming debut season last term.

However, he is still a servant of his impulses, and it is evident in his finishing and discipline. Nunez has received nine yellow cards in the Premier League this season, the second-most for a striker after Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson—another statistically poor finisher.

Nunez revealed that Suarez advises him at intervals, and he gave an instance. However, the example was from an incident last season, when Nunez was shown red for headbutting Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen.

Following the match, Suarez reached out to the Liverpool striker and called him an idiot.

"Off the field, we have a very good bond," he said about Suarez, per Yahoo Sport.

"I always follow him because Luis is an idol for me, and he also advises me a lot. For example, the time the headbutt thing happened (against Crystal Palace), Luis was the first to write to me.

“‘You idiot, don’t do that, another idiot is talking to you and he’s done it a thousand times,’ he told me. With Luis, we created a very nice.”

Nunez has scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season while providing nine assists for his teammates, the second most in the team after Mohamed Salah.
