Victory for Sport-S now sets up an enticing end to the season with the two sides meeting in a winner-takes-all final game on Sunday.

Sport-S have forced a decisive Game Three in the National Volleyball League finals after defeating UCU Doves on Saturday.

Benon Mugisha’s charges needed to respond after losing Game One last weekend.

And a 3-1 win was enough to stretch the series to Game Three.

The regular season seed one raced into a 2-0 lead to as their experience got the better of a much younger UCU side.

The second set in particular brought the best out of Sport-S when Warren Muhangi and Dickens Otim replaced Marino Oboke and Emmanuel Okia respectively.

The two came on with UCU leading 19-12 and inspired a comeback that saw Sport-S take the set 26-24.

Sport-S struggled to get the right pass in the third set while UCU were fighting to stay in the game.

Gideon Angiro and Nickson Tumusiime started to bite on offense.

The Doves edged the set 25-23 to make the game a contest but Otim’s and Samuel Engwau’s net defense frustrated the university side’s offense.

The momentum has now swung in Sport-S’ favour, and the Doves must prove they are made for the big stage in Game Three.
