Five-time National Basketball League champions Power Basketball Club have confirmed Timothy Odeke as their new head coach for the season.

Five-time National Basketball League champions Power Basketball Club have confirmed Timothy Odeke as their new head coach for the season.

Power General Manager Allan Musoke made the revelation on Tuesday in an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports.

“Yes, I can confirm that Timothy Odeke is our new head coach for the new season,” he noted.

“He comes in a wealth of experience, coached at some of the best clubs in our league and also won championships. His professionalism will be vital to our team,” Musoke added.

Odeke will be tasked with trying to return Power to its glory days, having last won a championship in 2011.

Odeke was on the bench as Power secured a hard-fought 83-81 victory over newly promoted side REZ Life on Sunday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Elvis Ssentongo led the charge scoring 27 points, while Elvis Mutebi and Stephan Otoa summed up the three players in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Veteran power forward Isaac Afidra managed four points and added five boards.

Timothy Odeke has previously coached Nkumba Marines and KCCA Leopards, which he led to back-to-back finals (2016,2017) but lost both to UCU Lady Canons.

He also guided the Leopards to their second FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2015 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Musoke also confirmed that DMark mobile had returned as the principal sponsor and that a new kit to replace the Betway kit being used now will be available by the time they play their next game on Friday.

“Dmark Mobile is entirely on board for one year with an option of renewal,” he noted.

“We have some delays from the supplier, and we hope to have them (kits) in the country by our next game on Friday.”

Dmark was the sponsor the last time Power won the national league title in 2010.
