The JKL Lady Dolphins wrapped up their first-round campaign in the 2023 National Basketball League with a resounding 80-48 triumph over the Nabisunsa Girls basketball club on Wednesday at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.

Inspired by the exceptional performance of Ekone Brenda, who notched a game-high 28 points, seven rebounds, and six steals, the Lady Dolphins clinched their third consecutive win.

It propelled them to the joint-top position in the league table alongside the JT Lady Jaguars.

"Credit goes to the Nabisunsa ladies who gave us a run for our money with their energy and enthusiasm to start the game,” Ekone said in a post match interview.

“We were able to compose ourselves, and the better team emerged victorious at the end of the day.” Ekone added: "We are going to work on areas like our defence, which we have lacked in certain aspects during the season.”

“We hope to improve on it and come back even stronger in the second round,” she noted. The Nabisunsa Girls concluded the first round in ninth place with a 3-8 record.
