Okoth will add rebounding prowess and perimeter threat to the Titans' roster as they bid to return to the finals this season.

KIU Titans have made their intentions of challenging City Oilers for the National Basketball League championship clear since the start of the season.

The Kansanga-based side won the UCU Open but were blown away by City Oilers in the opening game of the season despite unleashing some of their key signings.

Saidi Amisi, Innocent Ochera, Brian Opiyo and the returning pair of Peter Obleng and Collins Kasujja are some of the signings that the Titans brought in.

Congolese guard Joel Lukoji then joined the team in the course of the first round.

Julius Lutwama's charges went on to register a 9-2 record and finish second on the 12-team log at the end of the first round.

With the second round already underway, the Titans will be in action Wednesday night in a clash with JKL Dolphins.

But it is the news of Fidel Okoth's return that will entice the KIU fans who have hopes of landing a first-ever championship.

The Kenyan forward has been registered for the remainder of the season and is expected to join the team very soon.

He is currently with the Kenya Morans team preparing for the FIBA Afro-CAN Finals slated for next month in Luanda, Angola.

Okoth was part of the KIU team that lost 3-1 to the Namuwongo Blazers last season and will be no stranger to the players from last year's roster.

Stanley Mugerwa, Edgar Munaba, Joseph Chuma and Henry Okoth are some of the players Okoth teamed up with last season.

Denis Balungu is the other addition KIU have made in the mid-season transfer window, the Congolese guard returning to the team having left in 2021.

The inclusion of the two will leave KIU with some thinking to do regarding available slots for foreign players.

FUBA rules limit teams to only four foreign players on a given matchday, yet KIU now have five.

Of Amisi, Lukoji, Balungu, Okoth and Isaiah Ater Mabeny, one player will have to sit out on a given matchday.
