JT Lady Jaguars won their second piece of silverware in a matter of four days.

Having won the UCU Invitational Tournament in Mukono on Sunday, Jeff Omondi’s side went on to lift the Fuba Elite Women’s Cup Wednesday night at YMCA.

Organized by the Fuba Women’s Commission to celebrate International Women’s Day, the tournament attracted clubs and schools in a one-day event.

The Lady Jaguars defeated St. Noah Girls 55-26 in the final to celebrate Women’s Day with yet another trophy as they warm up for the National Basketball League.

Zainah Lokwameri, Rhoda Nagitta, Sarah Ageno and Muhayimina Namuwaya led the Lady Jaguars with their experience against a much younger St. Noah side.

The victory might be one that was not highly contested by the other top teams but it will serve as a reminder that the Lady Jaguars mean business and will be a force to reckon with when the league season tips off.

League defending champions UCU Lady Canons, JKL Lady Dolphins, KIU Rangers and KCCA are the other teams that will challenge for the championship but the Lady Jaguars will be confident coming up against any of those.

Maimuna Nabbosa, who won the league title in her last season with the Lady Canons last year, is the latest addition to the Lady Jaguars roster.

The Fuba Division One champions had defeated KIU Rangers 40-29 in the semifinal while St. Noah shocked JKL 40-28 in the other semi.

Nabisunsa Girls School, Kampala University and Magic Stormers are some of the other teams that took part in the tournament.

Namuwaya was named as the tournament MVP.

The winners of the tournament took home 1m from the sponsors while the runners-up pocketed 500,000 Uganda Shilling.

This will be the last on-court activity before the national league tips off.

For now, all focus will be on Saturday’s elective Annual General Meeting from which new federation leadership will be determined.
