The UPDF Tomahawks snapped a four-game losing streak by compounding further agony on the UCU Canons with a 57-53 win on Sunday at the YMCA court.

Both sides embraced the fixture with terrible runs of form, but the Tomahawks started brightly, taking an 11-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The first quarter was undoubtedly the Achilles heel for the Canons as the three remaining quarters were separated by three points, including a tie to end the second quarter.

Andrew Gang, who recently returned from national team duty, was awarded player of the game with an 11-point, 11 rebounds double to lead his team to victory.

“The team was on the same page today from the get-go as we wanted to end this losing run badly,” Tomahawks forward Arthur Wanyoto told Pulse Sports.

“It was a well-deserved hard, fought victory, and credit goes to the whole team for sticking together.”

“The key to victory was the fact that we had different scorers, which is something we lacked in different games and doing an excellent defensive job, especially with the rebounds,” he added.

UPDF face undefeated City Oilers next in league action and will hope the champions will have an off day as they will look to grab their second straight victory.

The UCU Canons face the Kampala Rockets next in league action and will look to end a three-game losing streak to get their season on track.
