BOXING UBF turns to Wakiso Giants' Kamoga to help improve the federation's administration

The role has been vacant since 2018, when Muhangi through the body’s Annual General meeting banned its former bearer Fred Kawuma for unbecoming behaviours .

In a significant move to strengthen its administrative capabilities, the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) is set to appoint Kamoga Sula as the Vice President in charge of Administration.

The role has been vacant since 2018, when Muhangi through the body’s Annual General meeting banned its former bearer Fred Kawuma for unbecoming behaviours .

Kawuma together with former UBF trustees Kenneth Gimugu and Paul Ayasi took the Federation to court, a move deemed to have put the sport into disrepute.

UBF members then argued that they should have gone to the gazetted sports arbitration courts, before they were slapped with individual 12 year suspensions.

With the position remaining vacant for the last five years, Muhangi has entrusted Kamoga with this vital role, signalling a renewed focus on effective management within the federation.

Other changes on the UBF executive will see boxing coach Patrick Lihanda join as the UBF vice president in charge of technical.

Lihanda competed at two Olympic events in 1994 and 1998.

Kampga’s appointment comes at a time when UBF has been grappling with administrative challenges, that saw Muhangi taken to court for unaccounted for funds to the tune of UGX 3.5 million.

Kamoga, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants, brings a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set to his new position.

Known for his exceptional talent management abilities, Kamoga has been involved in various sports, including football and boxing, as well as artist, model, and DJ management.

His appointment is expected to drive positive change in the administrative functions of UBF.

Before joining the UBF executive, Kamoga served as the Chief Executive Officer of Top Boy Promotions, a highly regarded boxing promotions company.

Through his leadership, Top Boy Promotions has successfully organized the UBF Boxing Champions League, which has been instrumental in elevating the standard of boxing in Uganda.

This league has provided boxers with frequent opportunities to compete, fostering their growth and development.

Kamoga's journey as a manager, spans over a decade. He initially made his mark in the entertainment industry, working with Gong Records as an Artist and Revamp Manager, where he honed his skills in talent management.

Transitioning into sports management, Kamoga made notable contributions to Kireka United, initially as the club's secretary and later as the Chief Executive Officer.

Under his guidance, Kireka United achieved a significant milestone by securing a place in the FUFA Big League.

In 2018, Kamoga joined Wakiso Giants as their Chief Executive Officer, playing a pivotal role in the club's journey to the Uganda Premier League.

His strategic leadership and management expertise were crucial in establishing Wakiso Giants as a competitive force in the national football scene.

Beyond his managerial prowess, Kamoga Sula is a certified and trained National Technical Officer (NTO).

This specialized training further strengthens his ability to handle the administrative and managerial responsibilities entrusted to him at UBF.

Moreover, his direct involvement with the UBF President's office through Top Boy Promotions has given him valuable insights into the needs and challenges of the boxing community.
