Head coach Lawrence Ssematimba has opened up about how belief and teamwork enabled his team to claim the top prize.

The Victoria Pearls are over the moon after they claimed the Capricorn Eagle Quadrangular series by edging the hosts Namibia by three runs in the final on Tuesday.

Head coach Lawrence Ssematimba has opened up about how belief and teamwork enabled his team to claim the top prize.

“I am happy that we won the series; we struggled with the first six overs managing only seven runs and losing a wicket, but belief kept us going,” Ssematimba told cricket media.

“We then decided that we will bowl well, and that is why we have brought the trophy back home,” Ssematimba.

Captain Consy Aweko was on hand to appreciate the Uganda Cricket Association and the technical team for the support given to the Victoria Pearls.

“Today we came with hope and belief that we could win, it was a team effort, so I would like to thank UCA and the coaches for the support,” Aweko noted.

How Ugandan won the Series.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bat, posting 93/5 in 20 overs.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi’s 26(28) not out along with Stephanie Nampiina 22(12), Janet Mbabazi 18(27) and Proscovia Alako14(32) kept the Victoria Pearls afloat.

Uganda didn’t field well, with only Irene Alumo picking up two wickets for eight runs, while the rest of the bowlers limited Namibia to six boundaries.

The chase saw only Yasmeen Khan 40(52) not out, Adri Van Merwe 12(19) and Kayleen Green 11(23) not out hit double figures as Namibia posted 90/4 after 20 overs which granted Uganda a win by three runs.
