Zinedine Zidane passes up another coaching opportunity, this time with the Algerian national team.

Zinedine Zidane has reportedly turned down the chance to become the head coach of the Algeria national team, according to a recent revelation from L’Equipe.

This decision comes in the wake of Djamel Belmadi's resignation following Algeria's unexpected exit from the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Zidane, who has Algerian roots and is celebrated for his remarkable career, including a World Cup win in 1998, remains one of football's most sought-after coaches.

Zidane's Refusal and Coaching Prospects

Zidane, who has been a free agent since his 2021 departure from Real Madrid, has been linked with several high-profile coaching roles. His rejection of the Algeria job is seen as part of a pattern, with reports indicating he has also declined offers to manage the national teams of the USA and Brazil.

Zidane, known for his strategic acumen and leadership, is believed to be holding out for the opportunity to coach the French national team. However, with Didier Deschamps recently extending his contract until 2026 and Thierry Henry rising in the ranks as France U21 coach, Zidane's prospects in this regard appear uncertain.

The Algerian FA's Search for a New Coach

With Zidane out of the picture, the Algerian Football Federation is reportedly considering several other notable names for their national team's head coach position.

Among them are Hervé Renard, currently the manager of the France Women's team, Vahid Halilhodzic, a veteran coach with extensive international experience, Vladimir Petkovic, the former Switzerland boss, and Jorge Sampaoli, known for his stints with Argentina and Chile.

This diverse shortlist reflects the Algerian FA's commitment to finding a suitable replacement to guide Les Fennecs back to their former glory.
