Akhulia has berated his charges for assuming “it would be easy” facing a struggling side, as they were made to pay for being complacent.

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has berated his charges for underestimating Kenya Police FC following the 2-0 loss in an FKFPL match played at the Police Sacco Stadium in South C on Saturday.

Goals by Kenneth Muguna and Clinton Kinanga were enough to give the Law Enforcers all three points at Bidco’s expense, which was a relief as they won their first league game under new incumbent Zvadko Logarusic, who had been appointed new coach less than 48 hours earlier.

“I think it is psychological. When you see a team struggling, you assume that you will just turn up and take advantage but I think the Police knew this and they were prepared for us,” Akhulia said after the match.

“Considering they also have a new coach, they have a point to prove, so I think everything worked (well) for them because they were so comfortable and we struggled a lot.

Akhulia has berated his charges for assuming “it would be easy” facing a struggling side and were made to pay for being complacent.

“I think on our side, we thought it was going to be easy. We cannot say we underrated them, but the players thought that it was going to be an easy match considering we have been coming from losing positions to equalise upon conceding.

The gaffer has sent a stern warning to his charges to improve if they are to stand a chance of enhancing consistency in their performances moving forward.

“It was a miscalculation and something we really need to work on to improve.”

The defeat to Police handed the side their first league loss of the season, having won one and drawn three of their opening five fixtures.

The Thika-based side will face Bandari in their sixth league game of the season.
