Algeria, Egypt and Botswana will rival the East African joint bid for hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Confederations of African Football have confirmed that Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have submitted the bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The East African bid will face a tough rivalry from Algeria, Egypt and Botswana who have submitted independent bids.
“CAF has received the declaration of interest from six countries in the bidding process to select the host nation for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027,” CAF confirmed, adding that “at the expiry of the deadline set by the administration, CAF recorded four bids from six countries.”

Deadline
The six countries have been given until May 23rd to submit their final bid which includes all bidding and hosting documents.
The hosting documents comprise the hosting agreement, host cities agreement, and government guarantees, all of which should be duly signed.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) boss Moses Magogo, in the April 14th, 2023 Plenary sitting, confirmed football associations in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania had agreed to a joint bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF will send their team for inspections between June 1st and July 15th before the executive committee makes the final decision.
Egypt last hosted the tournament in 2019 as a makeshift host after Cameroon failed to meet the requirements in time. They’ve ever hosted three other times in 1974, 1986 and 2006. Algeria hosted once in 1990.

AFCON CAF open bids for 2027 AFCON hosts
CAF will announce the hosts for the two before September this year. Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria/Benin and Zambia bid to host the 2025 edition. The 2027 host could come from the four who are currently being inspected.
