Cyriel Dessers was the super-sub in Rangers' dominant win as he sent a message to Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro.

Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers is leaving no room for doubt when it comes to his scoring prowess after another goal for the Scottish side, Rangers.

Dessers caught the attention of fans and perhaps delivered a message to Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, after coming off the bench to help Rangers register an emphatic 5-0 win over Dundee on Wednesday night.

Dessers came on in the second half to score his third of the season and fourth of the day for the Gers in the Scottish first division.

The 28-year-old was only on the pitch for 13 minutes and scored with his only shot in the game to add to his tally this season.

In football, the pressure to perform and secure a spot on the national team is ever-present. Players like Dessers know that every goal and every match can be a chance to impress the decision-makers.

While the Super Eagles boast an impressive array of talents, the former Feyenoord forward is looking to play his way back into Nigerian national football.

Ahead of the double-header between Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup qualifier this month, the question is, has Dessers done enough to earn a recall to the Super Eagles? Only time will tell.

Peseiro is expected to make public his squad for both games soon, and Super Eagles fans will continue to watch closely to see who makes the list.

Meanwhile, Dessers was not the only Nigerian on the pitch for the Rangers.

Experienced defender, Leon Balogun was in action and lasted the duration of the encounter, helping the Gers to a clean sheet.

Leon Balogun returned to Rangers after a year.

The 35-year-old completed the most passes (75), won the most dwells (12), created two chances, and made two key passes.

Balogun also won 100% of his tackles, and made four interceptions and two headed clearances.
